Why I’m loving the AI action figure trend
A trend that makes you the hero in your own story? I’m here for it.
The trend of people creating their own action figure using AI is worth more than entertainment—it’s a mentality.
I’m loving the rise of the AI action figure trend. This one isn’t just about fun graphics or clever online memes. It’s a movement that puts each of us at the center of our own stories.
It reminds us that we’re not just characters in someone else’s narrative or avatars in a feed.
We are the heroes of our own lives.
We’re role models to our kids, friends, and colleagues. We’re mentors in our professional circles. We are already action figures in the eyes of the people who look up to us, whether we realize it or not.
Recently, someone shared their big professional dream with me and told me why they weren’t pursuing it.
“My kids need me.”
I couldn’t argue with that because it’s true—our kids do need us. When they’re little, they need hands-on help and constant care. As they grow, the needs shift to emotional support and presence, but the intensity remains. It can feel impossible to chase something for yourself while holding that space for others.
I remember feeling the same way when I stepped away from a traditional job to publish a book and start a business helping PR pros reclaim their personal stories. I told myself that if everything flopped, at least I’d be more available to my kids. It was a bit of a self-soothing lie. Building something new—especially something from scratch—takes more effort, not less.
Here’s the thing. Because my dream was mine, I could build it on my own terms. I could say no when I needed to, yes when it mattered, and organize my time around the things that gave me energy—including my family. Most importantly, my kids didn’t see me as selfishly taking time away from them. They saw me as someone thoughtfully pursuing a dream. That perspective changed everything.
“My kids need my example.”
Hits different, doesn’t it?
What’s really holding you back
Ask yourself if you’re being honest about why you’re putting off your dream. It might be something that looks closer to self-preservation than altruism.
Before I even had a book out, my daughter proudly told her teacher I was writing one. Next thing I knew, I was presenting to the entire second grade at her elementary school. About 20 minutes in, I glanced her way and she gave me an ear-to-ear smile and two big thumbs up from the floor of the cafeteria.
“Keep going,” she mouthed.
That moment was all the confirmation I needed.
If you’re hesitating because you’re afraid of taking something away from your family, consider that you might actually be giving these impressionable young minds something more valuable. A front-row seat to courage. A lesson in resilience. A picture of what it looks like to go after something you feel called to do.
Activating growth mode is what real action heroes do. Not all of them wear capes, either. A lot of us wield a pen and a dream.
